Recently, a significant law has been passed by the French Parliament. According to the passed law, by 2040 there will be ban on the production of oil and gas. Due to this law, no new permit or renewing of permit will be granted. They will not allow fracking or the extraction of fossil fuels in the country as well as in its overseas territories. As a matter of fact, France depends a lot on hydrocarbon imports. Hence, the ban will not have a severe affect over the industries of the country. However, some of the lawmakers are stating that they expect that this will inspire other countries to follow suit. After the vote, French President Emmanuel Macron tweeted that he is “very proud” of this step. Macron further used the hashtag “Make Our Planet Great Again,” which clearly implies his efforts to push efforts for managing climate change after President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Accord. Macron further stated that he will try his level best to convince Trump. So, the latter would reverse his decision and rejoin the pact. By 2040, France has made commitment to end the sale of gasoline and diesel vehicles .
